Taylor Henderson is another long standing Oklahoma Department of Transportation employee so when he was promoted, we featured him in an interview piece that explained his roots and journey in ODOT.
Projects like this are what excite me most about video production. I loved hearing this man’s story and doing my best to showcase what was important to him and what was important to the agency itself. I also shot this with the Nikon D800 and focused more on getting candid shots of the interviewee in the production environment. I used the differences in the looks of the Sony camera and my Nikon to justify the more intimate feel of DSLR footage when I pitched the purchase request to renew out current camera set up.
My biggest issue with this project was something happened after the cameras set up and we jump over the 180 degree mark with one of the Sony cameras. I was not the director for this shoot, but I do wish I would have spotted it before we started the interview so that we could have rectified it. I don’t think it detracts too much from the piece, but I do know that other video production folks out there will notice the mistake.
Overall it was a good project. This actually inspired us to look for more projects like this that get to know individual members of ODOT in a unique and inspiring way.
