Equal Pay – It’s The Law

At Labor & Industries, we made a couple short social media videos regarding equal pay rules and laws in Washington State. This one was mine. Someone else had the idea and passed me the project to put it together.

I made it using a mix of Blender and After Effects. The coins themselves are 3D objects with cel shading to give them a 2D appearance. I did a simple physics sim for the animation and compiled everything in After Effects to allow for the text animations.

If I could have more time and do this again, I would have made the “Equal Pay” text a 3D object, as well. It’s short and simple, but a nice representation of what equal pay means. The straightforward text “it’s the law” also emphasizes how simple the messaging is. And once again, we have our messaging for employers regarding the law, as well as information for employees on where they can go if they believe they aren’t being paid fairly.
